At the end of every day, restaurants and stores throw away a lot of edible food. MealCare offers a food redistribution service as to make Montreal’s food system less wasteful. By partnering up with local businesses and institutions, we assess how edible leftovers are wasted. Project members then pair each food source with a local nonprofit in need of nutritious meals. Food transportation to each beneficiary is carried out by our network of volunteers. Currently the project is in the planning phase, however our aim is to start operations by the end of the 2016-2017 academic year.

Our mission is to make Montreal’s food system and non-profits more sustainable by eliminating food waste.
